I love my Big Shot!

My Big Shot is the tool I use EVERYDAY when I am creating.  I can cut shapes with framelits, edgelits, and steel rule dies; I can dry emboss with a variety of our textured impressions embossing folders; and I can make fun "flip" cards with our thinlits dies.  Here is a great video so you can see why you need a Big Shot in for your stamping studio, too!  (Here's a little hint:  Come back on August 1 to find out about a special promotion from Stampin' Up!  I can't say anything else right now......)

Organizing my stamping space (again).....

I don't know about you, but I am always looking for ways to organize my stamping space to make it functional and look nice to any unsuspecting soul who happens to wander past the door.  :-)  Now, don't get me wrong -- I cannot create without making a huge mess!  (Please say "Me, too!")  So, I have been working this weekend to put storage systems in place that will make cleaning up a little easier because I hate to clean up!

I get lots of ideas from Ikea, and I will be shopping again this week for another Billy bookcase.  I will share some photos of some affordable storage solutions I am using later this week.

How do you organize your stamping space?  I would love to hear your suggestions -- Leave a comment below!

Summer Fun!

Hello, and welcome to the RemARKable Stampers Pinworthy Blog Tour!  Our theme this month is Summer Fun.  It is definitely hot and humid here in Baltimore, and nothing says "Summer" to me like going to the beach, and that is what I used as my inspiration for these projects.

Here is my first project:

This card was made with our watercolor paper, ink, and aqua pens.  The watercolor look is hot right now, so I decided to use it as the focal point of this first card.

The image is from the Wetlands stamp set, and I stamped it first with Black StazOn ink (StazOn ink will not run when you watercolor over it). I used Crumb Cake ink for the beach, Soft Sky ink for the sky, and Marina Mist ink in between the two for the water.  I love playing with the aqua painters!  Let the watercolor paper dry completely.  You can use the low setting on our heat tool to help speed up the process -- just be careful not to scorch your watercolor paper!  (Ask me how I know!!  LOL)

I stamped the "Just Because" sentiment in Black StazOn ink in the upper right corner.  The sand detail is Crumb Cake ink and one of the splotchy stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. Layer your watercolor paper on Soft Sky, then Marina Mist, then wrap a piece of Silver Baker's Twine around the bottom and tie a bow.  The card base is Crumb Cake, and the stamped piece is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.  A quick and easy card that looks so elegant.

My second project is a punch art card and I got my inspiration for the owl in a bikini from Pinterest. I think she looks so stinkin' cute, don't you?  Lots of punches in this card:  Word Window punch for the fence, Owl Builder Punch, Bird Builder Punch, 1" Circle Punch, and Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

Her bikini was punched with Designer Series Paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack.

The sentiments are from the Big News stamp set, and the cute little flower is from the Something to Say stamp set.  I sponged the background for this card with Soft Sky and Marina Mist.  You can use a "mask" to cover your sky, then sponge the Marina Mist ink along the edge to get a crisp horizon line. The sand is Very Vanilla card stock torn and stamped with the speckle stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  The fence posts were attached to the back of the front piece of "sand" to make it look like a dune fence.

My last project for this month is a gift bag and coordinating tissue paper.

I used the "Emboss Resist" technique for this project.  I used the By The Seashore stamp set and stamped the seashells in VersaMark ink, sprinkled clear embossing powder on top of them, and used the heat tool to melt the embossing powder. I sponged some Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, and Pistachio Pudding ink on top of the seashells, then took a paper towel and to remove the excess ink from the surface of the paper.  I mounted this piece onto a larger piece of Coastal Cabana, then attached it to the gift bag.

The tissue paper was stamped with all three colors to coordinate, and a piece of 5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon makes the perfect bow for the handle of the gift bag.  Perfect little gift bag for a summer event!

I hope you enjoyed these projects, and I know Missy Bolinger will have something fabulous this month (she always does!).  Just click here:  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/missybolinger/blog
